Getting started on a game.

Posted by JCaluger - November 8th, 2021

Soooo I have had an idea for a game for a while and I know I could go about as far as creating the assets for it but when it comes to the programming.....well that's where my knowledge falls flat. I don't know where to start with teaching myself and how much it would even cost for someone to help me.

The overall gameplay style is something similar to the old Bionic commando.

All info and help is much appreciated friends.

A side scrolling shoot em up? Sounds fun! I can do the programming for you if you'd like!

For a Web/Pc game if you'd like to give it a shot, I would recommend trying out Construct3, I've found it accessible enough to get started as it doesn't require traditional coding. Shouldn't take too long to have a functional platformer (although if you have a 'grappling hook' that may probably take some more experimentation). Good luck!

Feel free to drop in the game development forum! There's plenty of resources for getting started there, and you can ask about it too!

Construct 3 is great for amateur web-dev, it's pretty powerful and very friendly!
